Obviously NOT. It is a very tiny piece of the entire concept of true liberty. When tyrants have power there is a LOT more at steak than getting stoned. It is the difference between citizens and slaves.
Sadly, I know exactly the sort of people you're talking about here. If I were not already crazy, they would have a good chance of driving me to it.
I think the whole weed issue is only a very small part of politics today. While I think it is important in some ways to some people, I don't think it is nearly important enough to be basing your entire political views on. Especially when the legality of marijuana will probably always remain the way it is now. There are much, much bigger things going on in politics today, and there are so many issues that are directly affecting our freedoms, that pot really is a non-issue in comparison. I mean, people will do what they want, but I don't think basing your political beliefs on the issue of smoking weed is very logical when there are so many other things, things that I believe are WAY more important.
Anyway that's my opinion, and I hope that it somewhat answers your question. I think I was maybe over-thinking it a bit much and started to get confused about what the question meant. Lol. So, I hope my answer makes some kind of sense! Lol.
It is a small part, and only a small part.
Ahhh......no.
I don't smoke so you would think it's a non-issue for me. However, I think there are many politicians with an unreasonable hatred of weed and it can be a telling sign of the rest of their politics. If one isn't willing to listen to information on one issue, that person is unlikely to listen to reason when it comes to the other issues. So, while I wouldn't specifically base my political beliefs on it, I do often see the two line up.
It's our most important right as citizens of Mother Earth man!
In some states. It's not the 'weed' it's what it signifies. It's place in American culture places it in a context of 'safe rebels'. I don't see it as liberal, I see it as conservative, liberals just move to the states that have legalised it, it the conservatives that seem to want to fight to mandate it where they are. I haven't done pot in years and i'm a liberal. :)
Nope. For some, it may help.
Hemp is the salvation of America. I think we should force conservatives to smoke it until they chill the fuck out and realize this society they want to preserve is a swollen puss pimple. Hemp is the answer to nearly all our problems.
I think so. This is America do what you want to do, as long as it's not affecting anyone else. Is that not Liberty?
ummmm... dude, what was the question again??
Dude... What we need is to love each other, man. It's all about the love. Have you seen my baggie?
@BoulderChristina - Don't bogart that joint, my friend! We've got to get to the polls!
The thing I enjoy about politics is Aw hell, nvm. Have this instead http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNaMR8AyeWc&feature=youtube_gdata_player
No, but the fact that thousands of people are in jail for a victimless crime, all while demonizing a source of taxable revenue and wasting police resources is clearly a problem. Not the biggest problem facing America, but a problem nonetheless. It is in the interest of all people to see to it that what you do with your body is none of the government's business.
If the legalization of weed is important on your political agenda (in a country where a personal stash of weed in your own otherwise law abiding home won't get you into real trouble), you might just be a pot head! And you should probably smoke less.
@autumn_cannibal76 - Thousands of potheads are in jail? I don't think so. I have known a lot of people who have/do smoke weed and not one of them was even arrested for possession of weed. And many of them were caught by police with weed and still not arrested. I think if you go to jail for possession of weed, it's a quantity big enough for being a dealer or there were other issues going on too.
As single-issue voters, potheads irritate the shit out of me. I don't think it should be illegal, but it got Ron Paul far more votes than he deserved. There are far more important things, such as retaking control of the political process, reducing war profits, protecting the environment, fighting inequality. Ron Paul may have opposed war with Iran in particular, but his pro-corporation stance completely subverts that, and his stance on everything else is just offensive to me.
Intercepted! (line used by B.H.O.) The government enforces marijuana laws enough to not let everyone get too crazy on marijuana. Selected enforcement is a tool.
